Trillium’s Board and Renewal in Action Team invites Trillium members to attend a congregational retreat with Dr. Dawn Alitz from Faith+Lead (Luther Seminary, MN) on the weekend of May 24-26 at Crieff Hills Retreat & Conference Center in Puslinch.
Dr. Alitz will lead us through sessions based on the theme Leading with Hope in a Season of Change: Walking the Road Together. As Christian leaders, our preaching and teaching centers around a message of hope and resurrection. There are times, however, when it seems difficult to walk this road ourselves, let alone walking it with others. Working with the story of the Road to Emmaus, Dr. Alitz will help us begin to process the last several years, name our longings and losses, find Jesus in our midst, and develop skills for sustainable ministry and self-care as a community.
There will be 4 facilitated group sessions with Dr. Dawn Alitz throughout the weekend, including a Sunday morning worship service. The remaining time will allow individuals to take time for themselves to relax, explore the retreat property, or socialize. Knowing our community, we anticipate social time including plenty of games and music!

When should we plan to arrive?
Check-in is at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 24 at the front office building. Check-out on Sunday is at 1 p.m.
What will accommodations be like?
We will be staying in the Matthew, Mark, and Luke accommodations. These buildings provide hotel-style rooms with private ensuite bathrooms. Sheets, pillows and towels are supplied and guests prepare their own bed. Each building includes a lounge area and wood-burning fireplace with a small kitchenette including a microwave, 12-cup coffee maker and small refrigerator.
What is there to do at Crieff Hills?
The venue is located on 250 rolling acres of forest and farmland giving plenty of opportunity for rest and renewal amid God’s creation. The property features:
I can’t commit to the whole weekend, can I come just for the day?
Yes! The more people in attendance, the greater the impact will be for our community, even if you can only make it for the day. Contact olivia@trilliumwaterloo.ca if you require a ride.
What activities will there be for children/youth?
Youth and child-centered programming will be provided including campfires, nature walks, board games, crafts, and outdoor activities. High school youth will be asked to attend the sessions as they are valuable members of the congregation, they can still look forward to plenty of downtime.
Can I bring a tent or stay in a motor home?
Unfortunately, no. Crieff Hills does not have the necessary facilities available to make this possible. If you are interested in camping, please contact olivia@trilliumwaterloo.ca to learn more about the June 7-9 Trillium all-ages camping weekend at Port Burwell Provincial Park.
Is there wifi available at Crieff?
Wifi is available in most Crieff Hills buildings. Because this is a rural area, quality may be less than you are accustomed to.
